The build up to today's match against Currie Star Whites at Gyle Park saw our injury woes continue. Our top goal scorer from last year who was expecting to return after 4 weeks from a Hamstring injury was ruled out with a sprained wrist as a result of a training injury. We unfortunately currently have six players out injured and our rock solid centre back away.
We were planning initially to start defensively playing a 5-3-1-1 formation until we got into the game. We started slowly and for the first 10 minutes we weren't in the game. We conceded a penalty (ball to hand?) which Currie dispatched. Going one down sparked a response and we changed to 3-5-2 pushing our wingbacks further forward and Kyle Anderson, got the ball in space outside the box on the left and hit a great shot looping over the keeper to equalise. We were starting to assert our dominance when the half time whistle was blown.
After an honest half time team talk we made some slight changes to our midfield to cut out opportunities they were getting on the break. We started to dominate possession and territory and had a number of opportunities from the wings and through the middle. We were awarded a corner from one of these opportunities and this resulted in Currie conceding an own goal.
Shortly before the game finished Sriram Seshabhattar headed a cross ball from the left into the keeper and finished off the rebound. A great result got the boys 2 wins in our last 2 and we're looking forward to our next game away at Crammond Eagles in the league.
